I have the honour to acknowledge your despatch No. 9 of March 7th 1923 transmitting in original a denaptch (No. 941 of December 22nd 1922) from His Majesty's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs enclosing correspondence with the India and Colonial Offices re, arding the Hongkong Depor- tation Ordinance of 1921, and asking me for a report upon the working of the Deportation Articles of the China Order in Council 1920.

I am afraid I have no information to give upon the matter, as no caren have been brought before the Court since the order come into force. I am informed by My Denham that there was only one came in which action ma contemplated but as the man fled it hecame unnecessary. It is to be not ed that the draft order in Council now under consideration re- enact the provisions of the 1920 order in Council.
